Why vote yes on Proposition 8?

Traditional marriage = 1 man and 1 woman.
Homosexual marriage = 2 men or 2 women. (That's different)

Traditional marriage = Biologically possible to give life to children.
Homosexual marriage = Not biologically possible to give life to children. (That's different too.)

Traditional marriage = Existed for as long as anyone can remember.
Homosexual marriage = It's new. (Yeah...that one as well.)

So if Proposition 8 does not pass, why should it be taught in public schools that traditional marriage is the same as homosexual marriage?

And that is just the chip of the top of the iceberg.

Vote YES on Proposition 8.

  1. Hmm, not very convincing.

The fact that something has always been a certain way is not a reason to keep it that way. You would have to back that argument up with something else.

Furthermore, without more justification, the biological distinction is nothing more than a distinction, rather than an argument for voting yes on Prop 8.

  2. My point was that traditional marriage was not the same as homosexual marriage.

I could give you page after page of "convincing" reasons why to vote yes on Prop 8. That would be from articles and what I have written myself on website fourms and blogs.

  3. But everybody knows that the two concepts are not the same in the areas you have pointed out. Even Prop 8's opponents would agree with you that the two concepts are different in the sense you have stated. But they feel that the two forms of marriage are the "same" in the sense that they are just as good as one another.

The title of your post indicated you were going to give us some persuasive reasons why we should vote yes on Prop 8, and you didn't.

    Sorry!
